“As a kid, I did want to be an old-timer, since they were the ones with the big stories and the cool clothes. I wanted to go there. Now, I guess I want to bring that with me and go back in time.”
— Tom Waits

Back in 2013, three Australians took off on a Road trip through America’s west landing in LA with their guitars, BMX’s, surf boards, a taste for adventure and a party. the first two weeks were spent predominantly in LA and San Diego with our mate and host John Buultjens (Haro bikes) and his partner Martha.

after two weeks of exploring, riding, X Games, hang overs and surfing the famous cali coastline we thought it was time to venture into the desert for a few weeks, we started with Vegas. Vegas was 40 plus degrees that week, and without going into the finer details we did a typical Vegas, or perhaps more accurate a fear and loathing in Las Vegas. that place saw the rear vision mirror soon afterwards and from there we headed out of town to visit Utah, Arizona and Northern Cali, we needed a break and some good old nature, and these places sure did have it. this trip went for a few more weeks with lots of music, dodgy desert shit, hiking the mountains and the odd chat about this thing called Jamesco.

After that trip and many late at night conversations Jamesco, as we had come to call it was born. The following couple of years was spent predominantly in the misty old hills back in Gippsland, Victoria, where we worked from our country property just out of a small town named Foster while our friend, musician and craftsman Yeti Savage had a workshop an hour east of there in the bush. We spent countless freezing nights between the two locations conjuring ideas for Jamesco while listening to our favorite Blues or old thrash metal straight out of a 90’s Crusty Demon classic.

From there we created our first line of Australian hand made leather goods particularly with custom guitar straps, along with a small clothing line. Fast forward to now, a goal from the early days and now our main focus is producing high quality shirts and keeping to our country spirit with denim and flannel, whilst also still hand making guitar straps for musicians and the like here and abroad.

Below - Yeti Savage at home in East Gippsland with his handmade fruit bowl guitar and an original song titled "Sweet Is Summer Rain" written about past and present bushfire experiences. This was recorded after we had our first major summer rain after the devastating bushfires that plagued Australia earlier in the year (2020) including East Gippsland.
